SMALLBORE

Equipment Needed:
1. .22 caliber rimfire rifle, or air rifle.
2. A minimum of 30 rounds of ammunition.
The Smallbore league loosely follows the NRA rules for smallbore rifle matches. We basically keep our matches informal, however as with all disciplines at the OBR&PC, the smallbore league requires strict adherence to ALL safety rules and the use of proper protective equipment.
The basic equipment is a .22 caliber rimfire rifle. It can be bolt action, lever action, or semi-automatic, although only one cartridge is loaded at a time with a semi-automatic.
The use of air rifles is also permitted. Your rifle may be equipped with metallic sights, telescopic sights or electronic sights. A sling may be used in all but the standing position. A match consists of firing from three (3) positions, standing, kneeling (or sitting) and prone. If you are unable to fire from any position because of physical limitations, you will be allowed to use the next hardest position. Shooters firing match rifles will use the A-36 target in the standing, kneeling and prone positions, one shot per bullseye. Shooters who are not using match rifles may use the A-32 NRA light rifle target firing two shots per bullseye, which allows shooters with common .22 rifles to shoot competitively. The general course of fire in each position is 10 shots, one at each bullseye for a possible total score of 300. You are allowed an unlimited number of sighters. A complete relay takes about 45 minutes. The league shoots both the summer and winter seasons. Smallbore is an excellent way to introduce a non-shooter to our sport, a good way for novices to improve and an aid for you experts to develop your eye.
Fees are $2.00 for members and $4.00 for non members per relay.
